Buzzing By to Say Hi....

I made this card for a dear friend. I am hoping it lets her know that I am thinking of her often and sending good thoughts her way. I thought I would give a try at paper tolling, thanks to the blog challenge at KL Stampin N Scrappin. Their challenge was to try paper tolling or what they like to call "Pop it Up". When I was a child I did a paper tole project that I had received as a gift. I can't remember what it was or where it has gone, but I do remember how long it took me to finish it and how proud I was when it was done. I also remember the smell of the glue that came with the kit. It was a thick clear glue that you made into a ball to pop the image up. I am so glad that someone invented the pop up foam sqaures. Way Easier!!! I also thought I would pull out my water colour crayons to colour the image. My copic collection has grown but still not enough to allow me a huge variety in colour. I also had no yellow!! With time I imagine my collection will grow and take over another area of my scrapbook room just like all the other addictiteve items I have collected. LOL! I will have to tell you a funny story about this card. I have fallen away from 6x6 card for quite sometime as I always found them to big and I would have a hard time filling the space. I only started to make them again last week when I made the Monkey Birthday Card. I created my image first and then layed it out to see what size card it would fit best on. It seemed to fit perfectly to fit on the 6x6. I worked for sometime on the card
and I was very proud of it when I was finished. I couldn't wait to put it in the mail. When I went to get an envelope I realized that I no longer had any envelopes left that were big enough to fit a 6x6 card. I then spent a whole day going to every stationary store I could think of. No Luck. The closes thing I found was a padded envelope made for CDs. Not the prettiest thing but it did the trick, unfourtunatley it did cost me about twice as much to send due to its thickness. I have now learned the lesson to check for an envelope before you finalized the size of you card. I was also able to enter my card in the Get Sketchy Blog Challenge and at Paper Sundaes Blog Challenge.

Card Formula:
The card is a 6x6 card made from a bade of yellow-orange bazzil cardstock. The pattern paper is from Daisy D's Gypsy Harvest Line (an old line I had got from Scrapfest 2006). The strip of brown pattern paper on the left hand side is also from the same pack. The stamp set is "Buzzing By" from Stampin' Up. I coloured the hive and the bees using my Stampin' Up water colour crayons. The hive is popped up into four layers. I also popped up the bees bodies and bent the wings up to look like they are flying. The ribbon is from Bo Bunny. I used the my Spritzer from Stampin' Up to speckle the background and take away some of the starkness of the White around the hive and the bees. The white card stock is mounted on Chocolate Chip and Morning Marigold Stampin' Up Cardstock. I also glimmer misted the Morning Marigold Cardstock but it is hard to tell in the picture. My last touch was to add some shimmer to the bees wings with a little bit of Stickles.

Valentine's Stamping Group Project

I made this card for my Stampin' Up Stamping Group. We get together about every two months to do a project and place our Stampin' Up orders. I must admit that I had some help from my friend Shanna (The Stamping Banana) to get this card to come together. I was trying to demo as many tips and tricks as possible in one card, it was giving me trouble, and I had a hard time getting it to come together. II was also having a hard time because on of my group members asked me if I could demo the Cuttlebug using the embossing technique that leaves a blank space. It took me sometime but I managed to find a tutorial on You Tube demonstrating it. It was a huge help as I had already gone through many piece of cardstock trying to do it on my own. Here is the link so that you can check out the video. Thank God for technology! The card is a easle card design. I love this design and have seen it around on many blogs so I thought I would try it out. I also wanted to use the new Candy Holders from Stampin' Up on the card . The box was an added treat for my girls. We made the box using the Peek a Boo box instructions. I was able to enter my project in two challenges, one at Paper Sundays and one at Stamp Something.

Card Formula:
I used Pretty in Pink and Melon Mambo Stampin' Up cardstock. I cut the scalloped circle with the Nestabilities. I used the Cuttlebug to make the dotted embossed background. It is not easy to see but I also embossed a larger scalloped circle with the inside being a blank space. The heart is from the Stampin' Up stamp set Sweet Centers. I used Melon Mambo Ink stamp the heart. I then used a 1 3/8 punch to cut the middle out of the heart for the candy holder. The ribbon is Pretty in Pink Organza from Stampin' Up. I found the charms at our local dollar store. The Happy Valentine's Day Stamp is from Close to my Heart February Word Puzzle. I used the Stampin' Up lace border punch to finish off the bottom. There are two small pink brads holding the card up.

ENJOY!

Getting Ready for Valentine's Day

I was so happy my 3 new cricut cartridges came in the mail. I got them as a gift from my aunt. She got them during the Cricut.com Green Wednesday Sale. I got the Spring Bundle and it included Love Stuck, Easter and Mother's Day. I thought I would try out LOve Struck to make some Valentine's Decorations. I also tried out my new Gypsy that I got for Christmas. I was so nervous to load my cartridges and use it. I was in away forced to chose the Gypsy as I no longer had my Cricut Design Studio. When I upgrade my computer to a Mac, I never thought about the fact that the Design Studio is not Mac compatible. I was really missing my Design Studio. So I turned to looking at the Gypsy. I was really nervous about whether I would like it or not. Well the verdict is in and .... I Love It. I really like the portability and that all my cartridges were in one place and I could use more then one on a design with out having to switch cartridges. I also really like the search feature. My Valentine's Day letters were cut in White Window Cling material using the Opposites Attract cartridge. I used the Love struck Cartridge to make all the images. I really like the lips and the heart made out of many hearts. The images are all cut out of Red and Pink Window cling material. With the Gypsy I was able to layout all my designs on my mat and get the most out of each sheet of cling with the least amount of
waste. I loved make the images and my daughter had even more fun putting them on the window.

Happy Birthday Krista!!

Well I am on the mend and I am starting to get back into the groove. I missed scrapbooking so much while I was healing. I am glad it is over and that I am getting back to normal. I made this card for my dear friend Krista. It is her birthday today. It took me a lot longer then I had expected but it was worth it in the end. I had a hard time getting into the groove so I took some advice from my friend Shanna. I searched the web for some challenges to get my "mojo" going. Wow, I was surprised how many different challenges there was out there. I am going to enter this card into three challenges one at KL Stampin' n' Scrappin', another at Stamp Something and another at Everything but the Kitchen Sink. I really recommend you checking out all the challenge blogs that are out there.

Card Formula:
The card is a 6x6 card. The pink pattern paper is from My Minds Eye "Laundry Line". The brown pattern paper I made with some coffee bean stamps and brown ink. I then sprayed the brown piece with Tattered Angles Glimmer Mist "Coffee Shop". The monkey stamp is a Changito from Stampendous. I coloured him with my Copics (imaged below). I then made a template of him an used the Stampin' Up spritzer tool to add some texture to the white cardstock around him. I cut him out with a 3" scalloped circle punch and mounted him on pink card stock which I had also spritz with Tattered Angles Glimmer Mist "Pearl". I used the EK Success photo corner punch to make the brown photo corners. I used some cardboard from a cereal box to make the coffee cup on the side. I cut the cardboard with my Cricut using the "Christmas Cheer" cartridge. I then sprayed the cardboard with ... you guessed
it .... Tattered Angles Glimmer Mist "Sand". I punched out a small pink heart and glue it on the cup. In the top left corner I glued 3 Bella Bling Dots. I finished it up with a brown organza ribbon and a small tag saying "Happy Birthday". The tag was made with the window punch from Stampin' Up andthe Happy Birthday stamp is from the Close to my Heart Happy Birthday Set.

Happy New Year!!!

Happy New Year everyone. I must say that the year ended off with a bang. I ended up having surgery on my right hand about 5 days before Christmas. I had 48 hours notice before going under the knife so I worked late for two nights to try and finish my christmas gifts. I got close but not totally done. After my surgery I did however have help from one of my friends who helped me to finish the last few touches. Thanks Krista!!! Because of my surgery I have not been able to do any scrapbooking and most likely won't for a few more weeks. When I do recover I am so excited to began playing with a few of my Christmas gifts!! I will be sure to post some pictures once I began to work again. I did miss out on sending out my normal hand made christmas cards. I had to replace them with the photo style ones that you print at your photo store. I did however have a great picture to use from my family photo shoot. We had a great picture taken with an amazing photographer Shannon Lepere. I have posted the picture for you to see.

New Years Eve was probably one of the most quite New Year Eve that we have ever had. We had a family fun evening at Old Fort William with some friends and then came home to enjoy the count down on T.V. We then crawled into bed at about 12:01 am. I did however think of a small New Years resolution. I am going to try and make a point of sending cards to everyone on their Birthdays. People who have missed getting them before I will make a point to have them ready to go well in advance of their special day. I don't think it is to hard of a resolution and I hope it one that I may actually be able to keep. Well we will have to see when ring in 2011, how well I kept my resolution!

Wow, I am such a bad blogger. I can't believe how long it has been since I have posted something. I have been pretty busy. Christmas is just around the corner and I am quickly trying to finish my 4 big calendars and my 2 little calendars. They are all Christmas gifts for my family. I am almost done and hope to be finished by this weekend, as I have a few other projects that I have put on the back burner. AKA Christmas Cards. I have been so busy working on my calendars that I haven't even started to make Christmas cards. I figure as long as everyone gets them before boxing day, it still counts as Christmas. Right? Maybe I will just send a Christmas email..... Oh the pressure we put on our selves.
